In the Limerick diocese parishes are grouped into clusters. Each cluster consists of three to seven neighbouring parishes. The parishes in a cluster are mutually supportive; in particular they provide back-up to each other in the absence of a priest from one of the parishes.

Our cluster consists of five parishes:
  • St. Mary Magdalene, Monaleen
  • Our Lady Help of Christians, Milford
  • St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid's, Dublin Road
  • St John’s Cathedral (includes Augustinians and Franciscans)
  • St Michael’s, Denmark Street
The working name for our cluster is Five Alive.

For the times of masses in the churches in our cluster see The Limerick Diocese Website (Five Alive Cluster Page).

A cluster team meets once per month to map progress in sharing parish ideas and resources. The team consists of two or three members of each parish Pastoral Council, and Fr. Eamon Fitzgibbon of the Limerick Pastoral Centre.

Within our parish we have many diverse groups, all working to support the parish and parishioners:

Weekly Parish Newsletter The Parish Newsletter is published on a weekly basis and distributed at Masses every weekend.

Jill Ashworth and Geraldine Hussey would like to remind all groups and organisations that they would love to hear from you, and to help you publicise any event you may be organising.

Please let them know as early as possible about your event - notice at least 2 weeks before an event will give you better publicity. They would also like to hear of any Parish/Community achievements or "news".

Notices to Jill, Three Gables, Monaleen Road (next to Niki O'Connell Montessori School). Please put in an envelope and mark "Newsletter" with a phone number for reference only (not for publication if preferred) or telephone 061-338957. You can also contact Geraldine Hussey on 061-330338.

Articles can also be submitted by email to MonaleenNews using eircom.net, (see the current downloadable Newletter for the full email address)

The deadline for items to be included in the Newsletter is 5.00pm on Thursday.

Note: Items from the Newsletter may be extracted and published on the website.
Parish Website The Parish Website, www.monaleenparish.org, was developed by Ann Heffernan and Msgr. Neenan and is updated at least once a week.

Generally, news items for the website will be extracted from the Parish Newsletter, but if you have any other items of interest, either of a parish or community nature that you would like to have published on the website, please contact Ann via the Contact Us page.

Don't forget, it is also possible to publish photographs on the website, maybe to illustrate an achievement.

As the website will be of little value unless the information contained in it is kept up to date, she would be grateful if you would let her know if any errors/ommissions or out of date information are detected!

Leanbh Memorial, September 2005
September, 2005
Leanbh is the Irish word for Child, and represents a group of people dedicated to maintaining a memorial garden to children who have died. Leanbh was set in up September, 2001 by people who have gone through the terrible loss of a child, irrespective of age. We would like to offer support, in any way we can, to those suffering the loss of beloved children.

We offer a listening ear, a chance to register your child in the Book of Remembrance, a place to sit and mourn, to think and feel, through the loneliness of suicide, abortion, of sickness, or untimely death - in a place like our memorial garden in Monaleen church grounds.

The Book of Remembrance is maintained in the sacristy of the church. In this book we may also like to name our children who died before birth. Each year a service of prayer is held to remember all those children, of whatever religious denomination, whose names are in this Book.

September, 2005:
The Leanbh Garden has had a facelift, with many old shrubs replaced. The statue has also been repainted.
